“Common Sense Please!….”

(by Lyn Robinson – Team Support Officer)…

Ever heard the term/phrase “common sense is not that common?”, well here’s an example…….one of our clients, Ms T had a significant debt amount with one of her creditors to which we started negotiating on her behalf in February of this year.

Ms T had been suffering with depression and anxiety due to her previous role within the Military.  Unfortunately the creditor did not see her emotional/wellbeing status with any compassion whatsoever declining all offers put forward, including a 3 month moratorium to begin with. This left us no choice but to seek assistance through the Financial Ombudsman Service.

Once the Ombudsman was involved, the creditor accepted a lump sum offer of 32% of the original debt amount in June of this year, 4 months from initial negotiations!  Ms T contacted our office today advising that she had received an application from the same creditor in the post for a ‘Silver Credit Card’ 3 months after the debt settlement….what the!!!??…..all I can say is that I’m glad that common sense is still alive and well in some of us as Ms T promptly threw the application in the bin! :) )

As for the creditor…..well I guess ‘common sense is not that common’

  1. I have had several credit cards negotiated by clicktru and had the same thing happen, one company even offered me a credit card after the debt had been sold to a 3rd party but not settled!
